This Privacy Policy explains what personal data pickitech.com (“Pickitech”, “we”, “us”) collects, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. If anything is unclear, email [email protected].

Who we are

Pickitech (https://pickitech.com) publishes research-based buying guides for everyday tech. We also develop and sell our own WordPress plugin, Spin Rush, and run a live demo of it on this site. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].

Information we collect

When you browse the site

Like most websites, our servers and service providers automatically process technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page that referred you and the date and time of your visit. We use it to deliver the site, keep it secure and understand which guides are useful.

When you contact us

If you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, the topic you choose, your message and the page you sent it from. Contact-form messages are stored in our website’s admin area and forwarded to our inbox so we can reply. We use these details only to answer you; we do not add you to any mailing list.

When you comment

Comments are currently closed on most guides. Where comments exist or are open, we collect the information in the comment form (name, email address, optional website and your comment) plus your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it; see the Gravatar privacy policy. Once a comment is approved, it and your profile picture are visible to the public.

When you play the Spin Rush demo

If you choose to play an on-site opt-in game (for example, the Spin Rush slot-machine demo) and submit its form, you will be asked to tick a consent checkbox first. With your consent, we store the details you enter (such as your name, email address, phone number, company or other fields shown in the form) together with technical details about the visit: a hashed (non-reversible) version of your IP address, your user agent, device type, browser, approximate country, the referring page, a timestamp and the game result or prize.

We use this information to deliver any prize you win, to respond to you and, where you opted in, to add you to our marketing list or pass your entry to connected services (for example, an automation tool such as Zapier via a webhook) so we can follow up. You can withdraw your consent at any time and ask us to export or delete your entries by emailing [email protected]. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it.

When you buy Spin Rush

Spin Rush is sold through Freemius, Inc., which acts as our merchant of record. Freemius, not Pickitech, collects your payment and handles billing, invoicing, taxes and license management under its own terms and privacy policy. We never see or store your full payment card details. We receive limited order and license information from Freemius so we can deliver the product, provide updates and offer support.

What we do not collect

We do not collect payment card numbers, government identification numbers or other sensitive personal information through this site.

Cookies

  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics (installed through our SEO plugin, Rank Math) to understand how visitors use the site, such as pages viewed, time on site, device type and approximate location. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this.
  • Affiliate tracking: when you click a link to Amazon, Amazon may set cookies so the purchase can be attributed to us. These cookies are set by Amazon on its own site.
  • Security and performance: our CDN and security provider, Cloudflare, may set strictly necessary cookies to protect the site against malicious traffic.
  • Comments: if you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies for one year so you do not have to type them again.
  • Site administrators: logging in to the site sets the standard WordPress login cookies. Regular visitors do not log in.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking cookies may affect how some parts of the site work.

Pickitech is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you buy through our links we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. When you leave our site for a retailer, that retailer’s own privacy policy applies; see the Amazon Privacy Notice.

Embedded content

Some guides may include embedded content such as videos. Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you visited that website directly, and those sites may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with the embedded content.

Service providers we use

We share personal data only with providers that help us run the site, and only as needed for that purpose:

  • Hostinger: website hosting. Our website data is stored on servers located in the United States.
  • Cloudflare: content delivery and security. Processes visitors’ IP addresses and request data.
  • Wordfence: website security. Processes IP addresses to detect and block attacks.
  • Google: Google Analytics, as described above.
  • Apple iCloud Mail: our email inbox, which receives your emails and contact-form messages.
  • Freemius, Inc.: Spin Rush payments, invoices and licenses.
  • Automation tools (for example Zapier): only for Spin Rush demo entries where you gave consent.

We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep your data

  • Contact messages: for as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up, after which we delete them. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Comments: kept until you ask us to remove them, so follow-up comments can be recognized and approved automatically.
  • Spin Rush demo entries: until you withdraw consent or ask us to delete them.
  • Analytics data: according to the data-retention setting of our Google Analytics account.
  • Purchase records: kept by Freemius as required for tax and accounting purposes.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we do not need to delete data we must keep for legal, security or administrative reasons.

Visitors in the EU, EEA and UK (GDPR)

We process personal data on these legal bases: your consent (Spin Rush demo entries and optional comment cookies), our legitimate interests (running and securing the site, measuring its use, preventing spam and replying to messages you send us) and the performance of a contract (Spin Rush purchases, handled by Freemius). We respond to requests within one month. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. We respond to verified requests within 45 days.

Children’s privacy

Our site is intended for adults. Guides about kids’ products are written for parents and other adult buyers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Please review it periodically.
